Cuba is a four-time champion of Pan American Cup

MEXICALI, Baja California, May 29, 2008.- Cuba has been the dominant team in the history of the Women's Pan American Cup winning the gold medal in four of the six previous tournaments. USA and Brazil have won the other two competitions.

The seventh edition of this intercontinental competition is scheduled to start on Friday 30 in the cities of Mexicali and Tijuana, Baja California.

This is the fifth time, including the first three, that Mexico is hosting the event. Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico were the organizers of the fourth and fifth editions.

Dominican Republic has been vice champions in three occasions and finished third in three other times.

The top three NORCECA teams plus the best ranked team from South America will qualify to the 2009 FIVB World Grand Prix, the premier annual event of the FIVB.
